Structured Stash

Mapping Information Architecture

Mapping a Web Site to Critique and Recommend Improvements to the Site

Project: StashTea wanted to understand if their current website stashtea.com was organized in a way that made sense for the users, but also for future enhancements and the longevity of site. The web development team map of the site or evaluate the structure, so they wanted to evaluate where things stood and any improvements that could be made.

Approach: The first step in the process was to map the current website to see what patterns and structure emerged. After the initial step was complete the information from the mapping exercise was used to critique the current organization and make any recommendations to improve it.

Lessons Learned: The biggest thing that I learned with this project was the small things that can make a difference in the structure and the naming of things on a website. Looking through the entire site to understand if everything was arranged in a way that made sense for future growth and for current needs really helped me to think differently about a website structure.

*This project was a part of my studies during at Kent State in the User Experience Design program.
