Let It Flow

UXD 60001: Principles & Concepts

Reflective Journaling Week 4

For this week, I think it was the assignment itself that stuck with me. There is so much to consider when designing a work flow for a user. I could have spent so much time thinking through that and revising that flow for only one user when there were potentially other personas that could have been developed for the site. Even after I draw my initial flow with revisions along the way as I put my pencil down and considered it final, I could potentially see so many other areas I could have taken it.

It was also clear why after a work flow is designed you want to test it with users and then revise again. There could be so many pieces of the user’s experience with the website that could have been missed or perhaps at one step when expected to go one way they go the other. My overwhelming thought also came back to one of the posts of my classmates. How do I put everything I use to practice and make it stick. My head is swimming with so much information and there are so many other designers who have been doing this longer than me. The post was a UI daily challenge. It clearly would help me put what I am learning into practice, but it was overwhelming thought at the same time. Am I ready to do something like that? Lots of self doubt this week, but lots of learnings and growth too. Perhaps I need to just let it go or maybe flow…
